Carlos Hernández was born in Mexico City. He is a Chartered Accountant by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He completed a degree in Corporate Finances by La Salle University and a Masters in Business by Universidad Panamericana, IPADE Business School.
In Mexico, he worked for the auto parts industry for more than 25 years, as the Head Treasurer of the leading suspension and brake systems manufacturer. His private ventures include Autotecnica Boutique and NAHI Manufacturas, both serving the automotive industry.
His connection with tortillas and the food industry roots back to his teenage years, when he was 12 years old, and landed a job as a helper at El Diamante de Puerto Manzanillo, a corn flour mill and tortilla shop in Casas Aleman, Mexico City.
In 2008, he made Vancouver his new home along with his wife, Rosa Elena, and their three daughters, Rosy, Andrea, and Susana. They founded Santa Rosa, corn and wheat tortilla factory in Port Coquitlam, the largest manufacturer of tortillas in British Columbia in 2009.
Fifteen years after, Santa Rosa is the leader in this industry, with a selected list of clients and together they have scored the thriving Mexican food industry in British Columbia and Alberta, proudly starting the boom of the Mexican food-at-home local experience.
